Speaker Pelosi in an August 10th opinion piece on Health Care reform and the protests against the proposed bill (HR3200):

These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.

Then-Minority Leader Pelosi at a San Francisco town hall meeting, January 2006:

I thank all of you who have spoken out for your courage, your point of view. All of this, your advocacy is very American and very important… I’m a fan of disrupters, people who make — make change.

After the 2006 town hall, Pelosi told reporters, “It’s always exciting. This is democracy in action. I’m energized by it, frankly.”
