The Europeans, who first foisted the welfare state nonsense on the globe, now see the errors of their ways. Sadly, we here in the States seem hell-bent to not learn from them.

The European Socialists are resigning themselves to ‘going green’ and correcting income disparity (legalized theft). The lesson from this is to steer the GOP into developing an environmental conscience and in doing so steal from the Dems a portion of a monopoly.

Being green will not likely sit well with real estate developers, but the planet’s lungs are taking a helluva beating, and it’s inescapable that reforestation must happen to compensate for the clear-cutting of the rain forests.

This is one case where a move that will be seen as a tack to the left is needed. I think that a co-opting of this issue could cause here what is happening in Europe… the death of socialism.

I can’t think of any person or business who would invest 28% of the cost of running an organization, and then listen to members of that organization blast you day after day, year after year. That is exactly what is happening with the United States and its membership in the United Nations. Even during these very tough economic times for our country, when we are incurring deficits in the trillions of dollars, we still pay 28% of the operating expenses of the United Nations.

Let’s end the diplomatic excesses that these people enjoy. Let any country that is willing to spend the money that the United States is hosting – let them have it. Give it to the Saudis and let these diplomats suck the sand out of the Saudi desert for a few summers and see if that’s where they’d like to go and make their ridiculous speeches.

For too many years the United Nations has held its hand out for our money, and then thumbed its collective nose at the United States. It is obvious that all of the well intentioned efforts to encourage reform within the United Nations have failed. We have reached the point of no return with this organization. Reform has failed – now we should ask them to leave our shores.

The original link to HuckPAC is down. I found Huckabee’s comment at an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article & changed it. –Patrick

OK, it’s by now an established fact that Obama and his disciples have the same, if not greater, propensity for shooting themselves in the foot as W’s administration and the previous GOP Congress. (Broken promises, Fudged transparency, Debt problems, Orwellian actions)

The question is this: can / will the GOP seize upon this strategic over-stretch by the Democrats?

The GOP is -21 seats in the House, -12 in the Senate. The Dems have shown a remarkable ability to alienate moderates / independents, based on recent polling (Rasmussen, NY Post, Donklephant, Scared Monkeys). It’s not impossible that the GOP could stage a complete and total comeback in DC. It’s a big task, but it IS doable. (Listen up… I’m a pessimist by nature, and this ray o’ sunshine is all natural.)

What’s needed to pull off this coup? Individual liberty.

The GOP needs to re-prioritize it’s platform to fully and forcefully incorporate individual liberty as the basis for everything.

You’re asking ‘Huh? Don’t they do that already?’ The answer is a resounding NO. From the war on drugs to gay marriage to sodomy laws, the GOP is sadly anti-liberty, in ways that are sadly inconsequential to the nation. We’re going to lay out several plank positions that we think will help the GOP stage a takeover of the Congress. The theme that will drive these positions is: does this enhance individual liberties relative to the government?

It goes without saying that the GOP should be decidedly pro-2nd amendment. It will likely surprise some that we hold that the GOP must become ‘libertarian’; the war on drugs, a consistent failure, must stop. Regulation and taxation will succeed where the SWAT team fails. The GOP must abandon anything similar to poking around in peoples’ bedrooms. Opposition to gay marriage must be replaced with a position that the state has no business in marriage.

Speaking of business, ‘oversight’ will strangle businesses, as will the taxation required to fund this bailout. Businesses must be free to succeed and fail, yes fail. It is painful to endure failure, but the bailouts have set us up for bankruptcy.

There’s more to this ‘makeover’ idea, and we will elaborate on it later on. We don’t pretend to be the original thinkers for this, but we do contribute our voices to what we feel is a growing movement to steer the GOP back into the pro-liberty and pro-freedom camp, and thence back into pre-eminence.

Don’t tread on us.

In the past year, America has seen its national debt skyrocket, unemployment double, and its standing in the world stagnate, at best. In response to the economic crisis, the President and the Democratic Congress took the idea, “throw more money at it,” as policy.

This Congressional Budget Office debt projection should be reason enough for voters to cray out, “No more” and for Congressmen to bring spending to a screeching halt.

What that chart represents should be the sole plank of the GOP for the 2010 and 2012 elections. It’s enough, really. Leave it to the power-mad Democrats to be the campaign gift (or disease) that keeps on giving. Having learned nothing from the GOP’s 2006 and 2008 implosion, Democrats flail in office like they are unaccountable to no one. Whether it’s cramming through a vote on a trillion-dollar stimulus bill, attempting to purchase 8 private jets less than a year after crucifying automaker execs’ use of that mode of transportation, or attempting a massive power grab in the guise of reforming healthcare, Democrats seem more out of touch than ever.

It’s time for the GOP to realize its potential as the party of small government, fiscal responsibility, and individual liberty, since Democrats seem incapable or not interested.
